Breathing Sulfur
The Francisco Pérez Ríos Thermoelectric Power Plant has turned the municipality of Tula, Mexico, into one of the most polluted areas in the world. The power plant is also responsible for 10% of the toxic air inhabitants from Mexico City breath in.
The plant continues to operate mostly on fuel oil rich in sulfur, the most environmentally damaging petroleum residue, despite violating various national and international regulations. For the inhabitants of the surroundings, breathing has become a health risk.
